Relationships last long because two people made a choice, to keep it, to fight for it
and to work for it. Other relationships fail not because they’re destined to fail. They failed because one of the two, or both, made the choice: to set each of the other FREE.

You make it hard for breathing
‘Cause when I close my eyes and drift away
I think of you and everything will be okay
Then, I’ll finally believe.
Tonight I’m gonna find a way to make it without you.
I’m gonna hold on to the times that we had.
Have you ever tried sleeping with a broken heart?
I thought you told me You’d never leave me
Anybody could have told you right from the start
It’s bout fall apart.
Lonely, only, nobody ever shut it down like you.
Alam mo ba, mas nakakapagod yung hindi ka na nga mahal, sinasaktan ka pa.

BACKGROUND
Since 2001, the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) has been holding an annual gathering on
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to celebrate National CSR Week. Themes that have been taken
up through the years include Forging Partnerships for Peace and Progress, Securing the Future of the
Filipino Child, Going Beyond Giving, Providing Business Solutions to Social Problems, to Taking CSR to
Heart, Putting CSR to the Test, Making CSR Everyone’s Business and CSR Amidst Business Unusual.
Annually the event generates the participation of over a thousand representatives from the business
community, civil society, government, media and academe. Through the CSR Expo 2010, the LCF
provides a platform whereby the corporate sector and other stakeholders can share best practices,
discuss new ideas and trends, address issues and challenges and showcase success stories.
As a result, CSR has become a buzzword in business circles and the development community alike.
While this is a very positive development, there remains a lack of common understanding on what CSR
really means, especially in the Philippine context. This is why the LCF continues its advocacy to promote
greater awareness and understanding of CSR through the LCF CSR Expo and other similar events.
THEME AND RATIONALE
For the 2010 CSR Expo, LCF adopts the theme, “Synergizing for Change.”
In the midst of an important election year for our country and as the nation clamours for positive change,
we take a look at the role the business sector plays in society and how CSR can be a catalyst for the
change we all aspire for. The May 2010 election presents an opportunity for the business community to
re-affirm its commitment to sustainable development and re-define its relationship with other sectors.
The practice of CSR has advanced significantly in recent years and the private sector has shown its
capacity to contribute to addressing pressing problems in society, such as the recent disasters brought
about by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. But if we are to provide real long-term solutions it will be through
collective effort between all sectors and a concerted contribution from the private sector. By “Synergizing
for Change,” we hope to put forward a common agenda and framework for action where each stakeholder
can make significant and lasting contributions.
LCF CSR EXPO 2010
The CSR Expo consists of a two-day conference and exhibition to be held at the SMX Convention
Centre in Pasay City.
The Expo begins with a CEO Breakfast Session on July 14, 2010 that will engage CEOs and senior
executives in a discussion of the topic “Building a Climate for Change.” This event will be organized in
partnership with selected business and professional associations such as the Management Association of
the Philippines (MAP), Makati Business Club (MBC), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(PCCI), American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (AmCham), European Chamber of
Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP) and other local associations and foreign chambers.

various ways by which they can contribute to the betterment of society, business and the environment.
These lectures will be free of charge for visitors.
The exhibition is open to the general public and will feature booths and exhibits from corporations,
corporate foundations and partners from civil society, academe and government. Exhibit spaces will be
available for rent for interested organizations. Entrance to the exhibit area is free of charge for visitors.
Over 1,000 guests visit the exhibits annually, including corporate staff, NGO representatives, students
and the general public.
In addition to the CSR Expo 2010, LCF members and partner organizations will also be encouraged to

A GREEN CONFERENCE
To show its commitment to environmental sustainability, LCF is undertaking LCF CSR Expo 2010 as a
green conference. The organizers will exert efforts to ensure that the amount of waste generated is kept
to a minimum, that the items used during the course of the meeting are of recycled content, and that the
waste generated is recycled or reused to the maximum extent possible.
Green conferencing ideas will be applied to the conference as well as the exhibition, such as adopting a
paperless format; encouraging online registration, networking and conference evaluation; inviting
participants to compute their individual carbon footprints, encouraging car pooling and reducing food and
beverage wastage, to name a few. Daily tips on green ideas will be posted on the conference website.
